Holy shit this is INSANE!

Like honestly I can't give anything but praise to this!

FelixZophar responds:

Oh, thank you! Here's a live video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzrTUahRQoQ

00:28 that was a little abrupt.

I see you've gotten into future bass. Huh.
My main complaint is that the lead in the drop is too loud and up-front in the drop and the chords don't have much high end. Nice other than that.

Hippokopter responds:

Yeah, I'm working on mixing. I've got a metalstep-ish thing in the works, so it's not like I'm totally going future bass. I just had to figure out how to make a dubstep bassline well... xD

Ey, this is pretty epic.
The only problem IMO is the misuse of basses.
If you listen to Virtual Riot, (probably the best dubstep producer in the game right now) you'll notice his patterns often include a certain formation of basses, such as in Pray for Riddim, or Cry some more. He likes to have a low growl, high bass, medium pitched bass, slightly lower bass, fill growl, start over. I'm not saying you should copy this pattern exactly but I am saying you should work on adding some dynamic and pitch and frequency range to your dubstep. For instance, use lots of Flange and comb filters in serum or whatever plugin this is, and overall put lots of variation in your basses while keeping a pattern that makes sense.
Oh, one more thing.
I know this is a WIP, but the effect of the buildup isn't as good without some weird shitty high-pitched basses and risers. Just an opinion though.

Songs to notice bass patterns in:
Pray for Riddim (Virtual Riot)
Shindeiru (Virtual Riot)
Cry Some More (Virtual Riot)
Dog Fight (Virtual Riot)
Degenerates (Virtual Riot)
Warriors of the Night (Virtual Riot + Datsik) This one is particularly interesting at 2:32 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqxWTJhBMyQ

Just some thoughts, nice job getting into the dubstep game man. Welcome to hours of trying to design a bass that sounds like a crying baby xD

TrickshotMusic responds:

So i appreciate the amount of time you put into the reveiw, and it really astonishes me about how supportive the fine folks at newgrounds are. But any way i dont listen to much Virtual Riot, but i do love the songs that ive heard such as Lunar, Pray For Riddem, and Energy Drink. This is also my first attempt at "Modern Dubstep" as ive usually done old 2013 spag heddy themed tracks with a producer named Froej. Ive dabbled mainly in melodic dubstep and found that the resualt is much better with Modern and extremely dirty dubstep. But as most other songs like to throw everything away and make a hardcore drop. I mainly themed this over Wubbix's "How To Make Dubstep" Tutorial as that has help me alot and if you watch it you could tell i took a bit of inspiration from that. Though i did want to make a pattern i did use Virtual Riot's "Call and Response" Method which is mainly Splitting the drop into different sections and having each section reflect on each other. Anyway Since the 8th grade Language Arts Essay is out of the way I want to say thank you for this reveiw

Pretty Nice.
I guess one problem is the snare at 00:22 etc. It's slightly off-timbre and off-pitch if that makes sense.

I really like the sound design you used here and how the piano chords are so low. The fills also fit right in with the song.
At 2:11 the supersaw chords are a little low and interfere with the kick and bass. Maybe that what you were going for, not sure.
Anyhow, nice job.

FelixZophar responds:

Thanks my dude!

Lol i can hear your symatics loops don't think you can hide from me

Nice song overall tho.

TAGPilot101YT responds:

SSSSSSSSSSSSsssssshshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Thanks dude! :)

OK, so the same thing is happening here. The piano at the start is in a different key as the choir.

DashSlayer25 responds:

Thank You! And Yeah I Can Tell, Ill Fix in My Newer Songs, This One I made Awhile Ago Too So... But Anyways Thanks For The Review!

LMFAO what does "safest thought" even mean
OK, so this sounds good, one thing are that when the piano comes in it clashes completely with the current synth since they are in different keys

DashSlayer25 responds:

Thank You For The Review! I Named The Song That Cuz Of The Vocal At 2:34, And I Agree With What You Say, I Honestly Don't Like That At All, This Song Is Alittle Older Too So... Getting Better And Better At My Music Skills! Anyways Thanks!

Congrats, you've earned yourself a scout.

TaylorBlue responds:

Thanks!! :D

Okay, this is Epic.
I like the Moog bass at 00:42.
I guess the only thing would be that the lead from 00:00 to 00:38 is not very interesting sound-design wise,

Hippokopter responds:

Haha, yep. It's just a supersaw with a gentle, key-tracked flanger filter. In fact, the lead at 00:42 is exactly the same, but with more hyper/dim and a little bit of phaser.

Holy crap, dude I don't know what to say. The sounds you used here are just on point!

I think you've surpassed me. I admire your level of dedication.

FelixZophar responds:

I'd like to thank you Sir Lot.
